Ukraine says Myrove and Sobolivka remain under Kyiv’s control, rejects Russian claims of advances

Ukrainian officials denied Russian claims that Moscow’s forces captured the villages of Myrove and Sobolivka in the Kharkiv region, calling the reports disinformation.

The Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security said both settlements remain under the control of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. The commander of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade also affirmed full control. In a video posted by the center on Telegram, Derhachi District Military Administration chief Vyacheslav Zadorenko toured both villages with troops from Ukraine’s 10th Army Corps.

A battalion commander with the 58th brigade said Russian units attempted to assault Ukrainian positions but suffered losses near the Hoptivka checkpoint in the Derhachi district of Kharkiv region.

Zadorenko walked the streets of Sobolivka and Myrove with Ukrainian forces. Residents described the situation as “normal” and “quiet,” though they could hear artillery and aircraft on the outskirts. Ukrainian troops periodically conduct sweeps to prevent infiltration by sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

“Myrove and Sobolivka are fully controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” a drone operator with the call sign “Khokhol” said, adding that Russian units occasionally reached the Myrove area, “we let them come to a convenient spot and eliminated them.” He referred to dropping “candies” (bombs) on Russian positions and claimed he had seen no more than three Russian soldiers over the past week.
