Ukraine’s General Staff said that overnight on August 30, Ukrainian drones struck two key sites inside Russia “as part of efforts to reduce the enemy’s offensive potential and complicate fuel deliveries to military units.”

According to the Ukrainian military, the Krasnodar and Syzran oil refineries were targeted. Multiple explosions and fires were reported around the facilities.

According to the statement, the plant supplies Russia’s military with light petroleum products - gasoline, diesel and jet fuel - with an annual output of 3 million tons. Multiple explosions and a fire were reported at the site.

Ukraine also said its Unmanned Systems Forces struck the Syzran Oil Refinery in the Samara region again. The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil and bitumen. By August 2025, its processing volumes stood at 8.5 million tons per year, the General Staff said. A fire was reported in the area and the extent of the damage is being assessed.

Kyiv said the attacks on Russian oil-refining infrastructure are part of an effort to reduce Russia’s offensive capabilities, complicate fuel supplies to its military units, and aim to force Moscow to end its war against Ukraine.

Krasnodar region’s operational headquarters confirmed a fire at the Krasnodar refinery overnight, saying it was sparked by falling drone debris. One processing unit was damaged and the blaze covered roughly 300 square meters. Refinery workers were evacuated; no injuries were reported.

Samara region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said that on the morning of August 30 “the enemy attempted to attack an industrial facility in Syzran.” He did not provide details on the impact. The outlet Astra reported the Syzran refinery was previously attacked by Ukrainian drones on August 15 and 24.

Strikes were also reported elsewhere in Russia. Tula region Governor Dmitry Milyaev and Adygea leader Murat Kumpilov said Ukrainian drones targeted their regions overnight. In the Tula region, drone debris fell on the grounds of a manufacturing plant in Aleksin. In Adygea, drones damaged a production shop and several private homes; one person was injured.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said air defenses “intercepted and destroyed” 86 Ukrainian drones overnight across nine Russian regions, as well as over the Black Sea (30 downed) and over annexed Crimea (15 downed). According to the ministry, 13 drones were shot down in the Rostov region, 11 in Krasnodar, five in Bryansk, four in Belgorod, and two each in the Smolensk, Kaluga and Tver regions; one drone was downed in both the Tula and Kursk regions.
