Ukraine’s military carried out a large-scale strike on military sites in Russian-occupied Crimea, destroying a Mi-8 helicopter and damaging boats and a barracks.
On the morning of August 30, Ukrainian forces launched a combined attack using drones and missiles, striking several military facilities at once.
Independent Russian outlet ASTRA reported the results, citing sources on the ground.
One of the drones hit a Mi-8 military helicopter parked at Aivazovsky Airport in Simferopol, completely destroying the aircraft. In total, at least two drones hit their targets during the attack.
Satellite imagery analysis showed a fire broke out in the parking area for Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters. Specialists estimate the blaze may have destroyed both the Mi-8 and the Mi-24.
The strikes did not stop there. At around 7 a.m., Neptune missiles hit a Russian border post near the village of Voloshino outside Armyansk. Hovercraft came under fire and six pieces of equipment were damaged. One service member was killed in the attack.
Additionally, in the same area, one of the drones struck a military barracks. Details of the aftermath have not yet been disclosed.
The massed Ukrainian attack dealt significant damage to military infrastructure on the annexed peninsula, destroying aircraft and seriously damaging the opponent’s naval assets.
