Ukrainian troops have retaken the village of Udachne near Pokrovsk after a two-week operation that ended with clearing Russian forces from the area, reported the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The advance is expected to complicate Russia’s push toward Pokrovsk.
Soldiers from Ukraine’s 425th Assault Regiment “Skala” said they fully cleared Udachne, calling it one of the key settlements for defending the broader urban area around Pokrovsk.
The operation lasted about two weeks, with Ukrainian assault groups methodically destroying Russian strongpoints before clearing residential blocks house by house, largely conducting fighting at night to maximize effectiveness, according to the reports. Published footage shows Ukrainian troops engaged in close combat in Udachne and raising the national flag over a school in the western part of the village.
Regaining control of Udachne significantly complicates the advance of Russian forces, the reports say. Moscow’s troops had tried to use Udachne and the neighboring village of Kotlyne to envelop the Pokrovsk urban area from the south. Those plans now appear to be disrupted.
A day earlier, the 425th Regiment also reported another gain: the recapture of Novoekonomichne on the northern flank. Taken together, the moves strengthen Ukrainian positions from two directions and reduce the threat of Pokrovsk being encircled.
The Pokrovsk axis remains one of the key fronts. Russian forces attempted to infiltrate the city itself in small infantry groups, according to Ukrainian accounts. Those attempts ended in heavy losses: of 150 fighters who moved out of occupied Selidove, only a few reportedly reached the outskirts of Pokrovsk.
The clearing of Udachne is seen not only as a tactical gain but as an important step toward stabilizing this sector of the front.
