On September 5, Ukraine’s 1st Army Corps said Ukrainian forces liberated several settlements near Dobropillya in August 2025.
A day later, a Russian military blogger confirmed that Russian troops had withdrawn from Hruzske, Vesele, Rubezhne, Stepi and Zolotyi Kolodyaz.
Russian military bloggers claimed Russia’s forces advanced northwest of Shakhove and around Nove Shakhovo, and said the Russian Armed Forces still hold positions south of Zolotyi Kolodyaz, in Nove Shakhovo and Kucheriv Yar.
On September 6 and 7, Russian troops conducted offensive operations east of Dobropillya near Volne, Ivanivka, Pankivka and Shakhove. Ukrainian forces counterattacked near Kucheriv Yar and Zolotyi Kolodyaz.
Russian troops also continued ground assaults in and around Pokrovsk.
On September 7, Russian military blogger Belsky said units of the 76th Airborne Division, the 11th Separate Air Assault Brigade, the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade and the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade (both naval brigades are part of the Russian Pacific Fleet) had been redeployed to the Pokrovsk axis, with some elements already engaged in combat.
A Ukrainian drone unit operating in the Pokrovsk area also reported on September 7 that Russian naval infantry units had entered the fight and released footage of Ukrainian drones striking what it said were Russian marines in the area.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, said September 7 that Russian forces captured only 5 square kilometers on the Pokrovsk axis in August 2025, while Ukrainian forces retook about 26 square kilometers there.
