Denmark to bypass more than 20 laws to fast-track a rocket-fuel plant for Ukraine’s Flamingo missile maker

Ukrainian company Fire Point, the manufacturer of “Flamingo” cruise missiles, plans to build a rocket fuel plant in Denmark. To make that happen as quickly as possible, Denmark’s government intends to set aside more than 20 different rules and laws, DR reported.

Under a new law, the government led by Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has been granted broad powers to override other laws, regulations and citizens’ rights to appeal if a project serves important national defense goals or emergencies. Officials plan to use those powers, according to a draft executive order.

“Maybe it was naive, but I actually thought there would be one or two deviations from environmental and planning law for individual projects. But there are more than 20,” said Frederik Waage, a professor of administrative law at the University of Southern Denmark.

Among other exemptions, Fire Point is temporarily freed from the executive order on controlling the risk of major accidents involving dangerous substances, meaning the company will not, for a time, be required to comply with rules designed to prevent major accidents. Over time, however, Fire Point will have to meet all requirements of Danish law.

Earlier, Fire Point announced new products - FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles and air defense systems. At the MSPO 2025 exhibition in Poland, manufacturers revealed technical specifications for the new weapons.
