A Russian Navy submarine in the Mediterranean is on the brink of flooding after a serious accident.
The Black Sea Fleet submarine “Novorossiysk,” on combat duty in the Mediterranean, suffered a major technical failure that Moscow is trying to hide, according to the Telegram channel VChK-OGPU. The fuel system is damaged, with fuel flowing directly into the bilge.
That not only renders the submarine unfit to carry out its mission, it also creates a critical safety threat - there is a risk of explosion. Problems of this kind amount to a genuine disaster for Russia’s navy.
Worsening the situation for Russia, the vessel reportedly lacks the parts and specialists needed for repairs. The crew cannot fix the breakdown on its own. Under these conditions, sailors may have only one option, the source says — to dump fuel overboard to prevent an explosion inside the compartment.
This breakdown is not the only incident involving the Russian fleet in recent months. The source obtained information about another classified episode that occurred on August 7, 2025, in Temryuk Bay. The small missile ship “Vyshny Volochek” from the 41st Brigade, operating as part of a group, collided with a civilian tanker. The vessel sustained serious damage, but the information did not enter the public domain.
Later, the command presented the accident as the result of a drone attack. Reports claimed the incident did not affect the ship’s combat readiness. However, photos that appeared publicly suggest the opposite: the damage was visible and clearly degraded the vessel’s capabilities.
Taken together, the accident aboard the submarine “Novorossiysk” and the concealed incident involving “Vyshny Volochek” reveal the true scale of the Russian navy’s problems.
