Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine’s military has begun setting up a mission in Denmark to share its experience in defending against drones. Several days ago, unidentified UAVs were spotted over the country. On his Telegram channel, the President noted that Ukraine’s Armed Forces, together with partners, will take part in joint exercises.
Those drills could form the backbone of a new system to counter Russian and any other drones, he added.
“Ukraine’s experience is the most relevant in Europe right now, and it is precisely our experience, our specialists, and our technologies that can become a key element of the future European ‘Drone Wall’-a large-scale project that will guarantee safety in the skies,” Zelensky said.
According to Zelensky, he has already received an initial report from the team in Denmark and instructed Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, head of the Ministry of Defense Denys Shmyhal, and National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov to work swiftly with all European partners capable of deploying a counter-UAV system.
“The results of the mission in Denmark will shape the framework for cooperation with other European countries as well,” he added.
Tensions among NATO allies are growing over how to respond to Russia’s airspace violations. Poland is reportedly preparing to give its forces a “green light” to shoot down Russian drones and aircraft over Belarus and Ukraine. Moscow has warned such a move would escalate into a military confrontation between Russia and NATO, calling it “a fantasy to serve Russophobia.” Meanwhile, analysts warn that “Shaheds” and “Gerans” are already capable of striking all Scandinavian countries, Italy, Germany and France.
