Stanislav Kocherha, deputy commander of the Prizrak Khortytsia unmanned systems battalion of the 15th Kara-Dag Brigade, described a difficult situation on the Kupyansk front: Russian forces are pressuring logistics with drones and artillery and continue to use small infantry groups.
In the meantime, Ukrainian forces are remotely mining the Russian positions, he added.
Russian troops rarely use armor in this area because the Oskil River runs through it. But infantry is trying to push forward head-on across open ground at any time. At times, they are aided by concealment using “really high-quality” anti-thermal imaging cloaks.
“Our pilots are very experienced, so they detect movements even under anti-thermal cloaks. They really are high quality. We have some captured ones and have conducted analyses and testing,” Kocherha said.
The head of the Kupyansk city military administration, Andriy Besedin, has warned of a critical situation in the city. He said Russian command has ordered its soldiers to kill civilians, prompting a halt to humanitarian deliveries and a focus on evacuation.
With the city now closed, people are being led out on foot.
