Ukrainian troops repelled another Russian attempt to break through on the Dobropillya axis, the press service of the 1st Corps of the National Guard’s Azov unit said.
According to the unit, Russian forces committed 16 pieces of heavy armor - including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and MT-LBs - in an effort to breach Ukrainian lines near the settlements of Myrnohrad and Razine, focusing their main push on the village of Shakhove.
Ukraine’s soldiers say they destroyed nine infantry fighting vehicles, four armored personnel carriers, three tanks and three motorcycles, and estimate Russian personnel losses at around 78.
Azov said Russian troops used a familiar tactic: an initial assault by motorcyclists, followed by armored vehicles carrying infantry. The attackers also tried to suppress Ukrainian drones with electronic warfare systems to enable landings in populated areas and consolidate positions.
The attempted advance was fully repelled, the statement said, crediting pre-laid mines and coordinated actions by artillery, the National Guard, drone units and the Armed Forces.
Commanders expressed gratitude to service members of the Air Assault and Assault Forces, the National Guard, the Ground and Air Forces, the State Border Guard Service, the Unmanned Systems Forces, and logistics and support units for their courage and professionalism.
Earlier, President Zelensky said Ukrainian forces advanced more than three kilometers near the city of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
