Eight foreigners were detained at the Polish-Lithuanian border on October 20, 2025, after illegal border crossing, along with two couriers who intended to transport them to Western Europe.

On October 20, 2025, a Border Guard patrol from Rutka-Tartak, cooperating with Territorial Defense Force soldiers, stopped a Fiat Ducato at the Polish-Lithuanian border. The vehicle carried eight foreigners who had illegally crossed the border, accompanied by two couriers responsible for transporting them toward Western Europe. The individuals included Afghan nationals previously detained in Lithuania. Those caught were charged with illegal border crossing and face further legal procedures. Since Lithuania instituted temporary border restrictions in October, about 150 people have been arrested for illegal crossings, with several groups using Belarus to transit toward Western Europe.
