Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Defense Ministry said Ukrainian strikes have knocked out the “Ring” petroleum products pipeline in the Moscow region.
GUR called it a “critical military facility” that supplied Russia’s army with resources for its war against the Ukrainian people, in a statement Saturday, November 1.
According to GUR, three lines of the petroleum products pipeline were destroyed on October 31 in the Ramensky district of the Moscow region.
“The anti-drone net and the ‘protection’ of the enemy site by paramilitary guards didn’t help — all three lines used by the aggressor to transport gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel were successfully and simultaneously blown up,” Kyiv said.
As a result, the 400-kilometer pipeline, which routed fuel from three refineries for transport, was put out of service.
GUR described the operation as “a serious blow to the military capabilities of the aggressor state, as well as to its economy, particularly in the Moscow region.” The statement said the “Ring” could pump up to 3 million tons of aviation fuel, up to 2.8 million tons of diesel and up to 1.6 million tons of gasoline annually.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said 98 Ukrainian drones targeted multiple regions in central and southern Russia.
The ministry said 45 UAVs were shot down over the Belgorod region.
Another 12 were destroyed over the Samara region, 11 over the Moscow region (six of which were heading toward Moscow), 10 each over the Voronezh and Rostov regions, four over the Tula region, two each over the Lipetsk and Ryazan regions, and one each over the Kursk and Kaluga regions.
Meanwhile, overnight into November 1, residents of Zhukovsky in the Moscow region lost power.
The Zhukovsky city district administration reported outages at many addresses “due to an emergency situation in the power grids.”
According to the official statement, electricity to some customers was disrupted due to the automatic shutdown of 10 kV equipment.
The Russian TV channel REN TV published footage showing Zhukovsky in darkness.
In Mytishchi, electricity has been intermittent, and residents are reporting voltage surges.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, air defenses shot down six drones headed toward the capital overnight. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that 11 drones were destroyed over the Moscow region.
In addition, the Belgorod, Samara, Voronezh, Rostov, Tula, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Kursk and Kaluga regions also came under drone attack. The Defense Ministry said a total of 98 drones were detected over Russia during the night.
