Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (GUR) released video of a special operation in a key district of Pokrovsk, showing troops opening a ground corridor to improve logistics. The first frames show a monument sign near the city where Russian forces had hoisted a flag, later destroyed by Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The fighting in Pokrovsk is being led by the “Timur” special unit, the agency said on its Telegram channel. According to the GUR, troops established a corridor and improved supply lines in one area of the city. Soldiers landed and fought their way to a designated point, where they linked up with another special forces detachment, the GUR added.
The video shows about a dozen operators fast-roping from a helicopter. It then cuts to strikes on what the GUR described as hideouts used by Russian saboteurs. Among other tactics, teams tracked and destroyed targets with drones. The GUR said additional special units are operating but their names are being withheld for security reasons. Other Ukrainian Defense Forces formations are also involved.
“Combat operations continue to eliminate the enemy’s attempts to expand fire control over logistics in the GUR’s area of responsibility,” the agency’s press service said.
Reports of GUR involvement in Pokrovsk surfaced November 1. A screenshot circulating online showed the moment a helicopter landed and a team disembarked, matching today’s footage. Photos later appeared of GUR chief Kyrylo Budanov near the front line. The outlet suggested Budanov may be personally directing the operation in Pokrovsk. Ukrainian Armed Forces Major and political scientist Andrii Tkachuk noted on his “Voice of the Major” Telegram channel that when the Budanov reports were published, he was absent from a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
A soldier with the call sign “Hus” from the 68th Brigade of the 9th Army Corps said small Russian sabotage groups had appeared in almost all districts of the city. He added that Russian forces had dug in around the Solnechnyi, Lazurnyi and Shakhterskyi neighborhoods. Analysts from the DeepState project showed changes to the front line in Pokrovsk, with Russian units advancing 1–3 kilometers to the southwest.
Meanwhile, the commander of the “Dovbush’s Hornets” UAV unit of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade, Viacheslav “Liutyi,” said Russian forces are sowing chaos in Pokrovsk, complicating Ukrainian plans to restore a clear line of contact.
