Serbia, along with other European countries, is preparing for a potential war with the Russian Federation, President Aleksandar Vucic said.
During an appearance on Serbian broadcaster Pink, Vucic expressed confidence that across Europe, including in Serbia, preparations are underway for a possible military conflict with Russia. He said the threat is becoming increasingly apparent. He made the remarks during an appearance on Serbian broadcaster Pink.
Commenting on a statement by the chief of the French Armed Forces’ General Staff, Gen. Fabien Mandon, who earlier noted that the French army must be ready for possible shocks over the next three to four years, Vucic emphasized:
“Analyzing the available facts, I conclude that the prospect of war between Europe and Russia is becoming more likely. These are by no means empty words. Literally everyone is preparing for such a turn of events.”
The Serbian president also acknowledged his country is in a difficult position, “between a rock and a hard place.” At the same time, he underscored the importance of strengthening national defense:
“We must take a prudent approach to armaments and continue significant investments to defend our state.”
Vucic has previously said he could reconsider Serbia’s decision not to impose sanctions against Russia.
He also stated that Serbia is ready to sell ammunition to the European Union, even if it is transferred to Ukraine.
After that, the Kremlin said Russia would least like to see ammunition produced in Serbia delivered to Ukraine.
