Russian forces assaulting Pokrovsk in Ukraine’s Donetsk region have one fewer logistics route, Ukraine says.
Ukraine’s Forces carried out an airstrike on the road connecting Selydove and Pokrovsk, destroying it and cutting off a route Russian troops used to infiltrate the city with light vehicles. Troops from the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces published the footage.
In other sectors, Ukrainian forces are installing additional engineering obstacles.
“At the same time, the command of the occupying forces is sending ‘suicide squads’ to clear those obstacles,” the soldiers said.
Earlier footage showing the Russians trying to maneuver on motorbikes in Pokrovsk drew significant attention online. Some took it as a breakthrough; in reality, it was a show of presence and the arrival of fresh forces, made easier by weather conditions.
Later, those same “motorbikers,” who appeared audacious in the video, were seen among the wreckage of their own vehicles after precise Ukrainian strikes.
Still, the situation in and around the city remains difficult. Russian forces have significantly increased pressure on Pokrovsk, using thick fog to cover the movement of vehicles and infantry. Analysts note, however, that the key factor is not the weather but Russia’s significant advantage in forces on this axis.
Pokrovsk is a key logistics hub in Donetsk region, located on major road and rail routes. Fighting for the city has continued for more than a year, and its potential loss could significantly weaken Ukraine’s defensive posture on adjacent fronts.
