Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv has developed several proposals to restart talks with Russia and wants to present them to partners.
He also announced talks in Turkey scheduled for tomorrow, where, according to media reports, U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to attend.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to Zelensky’s remarks. He said Russia will not send a delegation to Istanbul, adding that if Witkoff or Turkish officials want to brief Moscow on the talks, President Vladimir Putin is open to that.
“Putin’s contacts with Witkoff or with representatives of the Turkish side are not planned for now,” Peskov said, adding that Moscow has not yet received from Kyiv any information about restarting negotiations, but Russia is ready.
A day earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said he was “fine” with a Senate bill to impose sanctions on countries that do business with Russia.
The White House later clarified he would sign the measure if it clearly preserves his authority to make final decisions on any restrictions.
