The death toll from a large-scale overnight strike on the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil has risen to 20, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said. Two children are among the dead.

At least 66 people were wounded, including 16 children. Emergency crews rescued 45 people.

The barrage damaged multi-story residential buildings as well as industrial and warehouse facilities, sparking large fires. Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said two nine-story apartment blocks were hit - one caught fire, and the other suffered destruction from the third through the ninth floors.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the overnight hours of November 19, regions across Ukraine were targeted by 470 attack drones and 48 missiles of various types - ballistic and cruise. Beyond Ternopil in the west, Russian forces also struck the Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv and Donetsk regions.
