The situation around the city of Kostyantynivka is extremely difficult as Russian forces are trying to skirt the town from several directions, Serhii Yaryi, commander of unmanned systems with Ukraine’s 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade, said on Den.LIVE.
According to Yaryi, troops from his brigade are targeting Russian infantry on the approaches to Kostyantynivka. He said Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are trying to slip into the city amid worsening weather conditions.
Yaryi said Russia continues to mass significant manpower along the Kostyantynivka axis. He added that the presence of civilians in the town complicates Ukrainian operations.
“Logistics into Kostyantynivka are tough, and evacuating even a single wounded civilian is now very hard. Our troops come under fire during evacuations. It really hampers operations,” he said.
A day earlier, Brig. Gen. Oleksandr Bakulin, commander of Ukraine’s 19th Army Corps, rejected Russian claims that their forces had “cleared” the center of Kostyantynivka. Russian forces are also trying to cut Ukrainian supply routes in the area, Ukrainian military officials said.
