Ukrainian Forces repel mechanized Russian assault near Pokrovsk

Russian troops attempted a mechanized breakthrough in the Pokrovsk sector but were stopped by Ukraine’s 7th Air Assault Corps and the 68th Jaeger Brigade, according to Ukrainian military officials.

In the morning, Russian forces tried to take advantage of poor weather and launched an assault on the northern part of Pokrovsk. The 7th Air Assault Corps said the Russians advanced from the south toward Ukrainian positions in mechanized columns.

As soon as the column entered the kill zone, the 68th Jaeger Brigade destroyed the lead armored vehicle with an FPV drone. That strike triggered a broader response - Ukrainian units opened fire as artillery crews and drone operators joined in, methodically breaking up the attack.

Preliminary information suggests elite units from Russia’s 76th Air Assault Division—the same force the Kremlin has long presented as “the best of the best” - took part in the assault. In practice, that “elite” again became the target of Ukrainian strikes.

Some equipment was destroyed, there was no advance, and personnel suffered losses. Paratroopers and jaegers themselves posted video of the strikes, showing armored vehicles burning after hits from FPV drones and artillery.

The 7th Air Assault Corps said the defensive operation on the Pokrovsk axis is ongoing. Forces involved include the Air Assault Forces, assault units, SBU, the National Guard and the National Police.

The situation remains tense: logistics are complicated. Russian forces are attempting to push toward Myrnohrad; part of Pokrovsk is under Russian control, according to media reports; and the “corridor” to Myrnohrad is under Russian drone fire. Ukrainian forces are working to expand logistics routes toward Myrnohrad to stabilize supplies.
