A drone hit a residential building in the western Russian city of Tver overnight on December 12, injuring seven people, including a child, according to Meduza, which cited the region’s acting governor, Vitaly Korolev. Eyewitness video captured the moment of the strike.
In Yaroslavl, Ukrainian drones targeted the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery, one of the largest in Russia’s Central Federal District, local authorities said. Footage shot from Kalinina Street appeared to show significant damage. The facility has been attacked before, most recently on October 1.
Eyewitnesses also reported a large fire in Orsk near the Mechanical Plant machine-building facility. It was not immediately clear what caused the blaze.
Russian officials said air defenses destroyed 90 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over the Moscow region as well as Bryansk and Yaroslavl.
Meanwhile, Russia has continued striking residential areas and critical infrastructure across Ukraine with drones and missiles. Reuters reported that more than 650 drones and 51 missiles were launched overnight, most of which Ukraine’s air defenses shot down, though some got through, causing power outages and reducing output at nuclear and thermal power plants.
In the Odesa region, drone strikes damaged energy facilities and warehouses, leaving several communities without electricity. Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional administration, said repair crews were working and key sites were running on generators.
Earlier, Ukrainian authorities said Russian strikes on Pavlohrad damaged residential buildings and cut water supplies. One person was killed and several others were wounded, including a woman who suffered severe burns and was in serious condition.
