Ukrainian troops have carried out a successful operation along the Kupiansk axis and in the city of Kupyansk in Kharkiv region, the National Guard’s Khartiya Corps said.
The statement said a grouping of Ukrainian forces broke through to the Oskil River, cutting Russian supply lines. During the fighting, the villages of Kindrashivka and Radkivka and their surroundings, as well as several neighborhoods in northern Kupyansk, were liberated.
“Kindrashivka, Radkivka and their surroundings and a number of neighborhoods in northern Kupyansk have been liberated. From September 22 to December 12, a total of 1,027 Russians were killed, 291 wounded, and 13 taken prisoner. More than 200 occupiers are encircled,” the statement said.
Separately, the DeepState analytical project reported that the Russian garrison in Kupyansk has been blocked and cut off from its main forces. Ukraine’s Forces are continuing to identify and eliminate Russian positions in the central part of the city, where Russian troops still hold several enclaves.
“The Defense Forces relatively swiftly took Radkivka and Kindrashivka, and brought Holubivka under fire control. After that, there was a sweep of Myrne and the northwestern outskirts of Kupyansk,” the message reads.
DeepState’s maps show a liberated area of 40.21 square kilometers, covering the villages of Kindrashivka, Radkivka, Myrne and northern districts of Kupyansk. Much of the city and the village of Holubivka remain in the “gray zone.” The map also marks three enemy-held enclaves inside the city totaling 0.39 square kilometers.
Earlier this month, reports pointed to a significant improvement in the tactical situation in Kupyansk. Ukrainian forces significantly cleared large parts of the city, halting attempts to isolate the local garrison and to impede the advance of Russian sabotage-reconnaissance groups.
