Kyiv: Russia’s advance on Pokrovsk has slowed as Ukrainian Forces hold the north

Ukraine’s Forces say they continue to hold a significant part of Pokrovsk.

The pace of Russia’s advance toward Pokrovsk has markedly slowed, according to Ukraine’s military. Ukrainian Forces continue to hold and control the northern part of the city, despite loud claims from Russian outlets of a full capture, reported the 7th Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces.

Ukrainian troops say Russia has, for the fourth time in the past six weeks, tried to pass off images and videos from select central districts of Pokrovsk as proof of full control. The actual battlefield situation does not match those claims, they said.

According to the city’s defenders, the enemy has failed to break Ukrainian lines in the north. That is where Russian units have lost offensive momentum and, instead of tangible gains, shifted to so-called “TV artillery”—information pushes for a domestic audience.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) emphasize that the situation around Pokrovsk remains under Kyiv’s control. Active fighting continues, and Ukrainian forces are taking measures to restore control over every meter of the city, they said.

In particular, soldiers of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skala,” together with other units in the 7th Corps’ area of responsibility, are conducting assault raids south of the railway. Ukrainian forces are methodically destroying enemy manpower, equipment and fortifications, gradually pushing Russian units back.
