Russian forces, continuing the war against Ukraine, targeted the neighboring country with 69 drones, including Shahed, “Gerbera,” and other types.
The overnight attack into Tuesday, December 16, was launched from Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia’s Krasnodar region, Millerovo in the Rostov region, and from Hvardiiske in Russian-annexed Crimea, Ukraine’s Air Force said on Telegram.
Roughly 40 of the drones were Shaheds.
Preliminary data indicate Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 57 drones over the south and east of the country.
Ten more UAVs struck targets in seven different locations.
The Air Force said the attack was ongoing, with several Russian drones still in Ukrainian airspace.
In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian drone hit a high-rise building, injuring three people, Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said on social media.
“Rescuers are working at the scene. Residents of the upper floors are being evacuated,” he wrote.
