Ukrainian drones hit the Russian cities of Rostov-on-Don, Oryol, and Tolyatti, damaging power and industrial facilities

In the early hours of December 19, Ukrainian drones hit the Russian cities of Rostov-on-Don, Oryol and Tolyatti, according to the Telegram channel ASTRA.

Rostov region Governor Yuri Slyusar and Rostov Mayor Alexander Skryabin confirmed the attack on the city. Skryabin said parts of the Sovetsky and Oktyabrsky districts lost electricity, heat and water.

In Tolyatti, the Tolyattiazot plant was struck and caught fire. The road to the facility has been closed. Tolyattiazot is among the world’s ten largest producers of ammonia.

Tolyatti Mayor Ilya Sukhikh confirmed the attack and said the strike hit one of the city’s industrial facilities.

In Oryol, a combined heat and power (CHP) plant was targeted. ASTRA said it geolocated eyewitness videos from the city showing a flash at the Oryol CHP.

Oryol region Governor Andrey Klychkov confirmed the attack and said a municipal infrastructure facility was damaged. He said the Sovetsky district was partially left without power, heat and hot water.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said overnight that Russian air defenses “shot down 36 drones over Rostov region and six over Samara region.”

Earlier, on the night of December 18, Ukrainian forces struck a drone depot and a concentration of Russian troops in occupied Makiivka and Donetsk.
