Ukraine’s forces carried out a series of overnight strikes on December 25 targeting military and logistical infrastructure in the Russian Federation and in temporarily occupied territories. The targets included the Temryuk seaport in Russia’s Krasnodar region, a military airfield near Maykop, and a repair unit of Russian forces in Donetsk region.
As a result of the attack on the port of Temryuk, explosions were recorded and two fuel tanks caught fire, with a large blaze covering about 2,000 sq. km of the port complex, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
The port of Temryuk is located on Temryuk Bay in the Sea of Azov on the Taman Peninsula and is used to handle various cargoes, including liquefied hydrocarbon gas and other petroleum products. According to the General Staff, the port is involved in logistical support for the Russian military.
“Ukrainian forces also struck a military airfield near the city of Maykop (Republic of Adygea, Russia). Preliminary data indicate the target was hit and a fire broke out at the site. The results of the strike are being clarified,” the statement said.
In addition, Ukrainian strike drone units hit a repair facility of Russia’s 143rd motorized rifle regiment near the settlement of Truzhenka in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. The extent of the damage is also being clarified.
The General Staff added that, based on updated assessments of previous Ukrainian drone strikes on the Belbek airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea, the destruction of a 96K6 radar and an R-419 communications station has been confirmed, along with damage to a 55Zh6T radar.
“The Defense Forces continue to take measures to undermine the military-economic potential of the Russian aggressors, disrupt fuel and ammunition supplies to the invading army, and force the Russian Federation to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.
The next target was the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant - the country’s largest gas-chemical complex, which processes 37.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually. The strike ignited a pipeline at the 3U-70 unit, used to remove hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from raw gas. As a result, the plant was forced to halt its technological processes.
FIRMS, a service that tracks fires in real time worldwide, confirmed the presence of fires on the plant’s territory.
Russia’s Defense Ministry also said there was a large overnight drone attack, claiming air defenses shot down more than a hundred drones across several regions, including Moscow.
