Russian forces are intensively shelling settlements along the supply route to Hulyaipole, seeking to cut Ukrainian defenders off from logistics.
The situation in Hulyaipole, Zaporizhzhia region, remains severe, with dozens of clashes recorded daily as Russian troops try to sever supply lines and take control of the town, Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, said on television, according to Ukrinform.
“The enemy continues assault operations, attempting to push the Defense Forces out of the city. Street fighting is ongoing; every day we record two to three dozen engagements taking place directly in Hulyaipole,” he said.
Voloshyn said Russian troops are trying to insert small groups to consolidate positions, but Ukraine’s Defense Forces are blocking their advance and striking them.
“The enemy tries to bring in consolidation groups and leave them on certain positions. Ukraine’s Defense Forces are blocking the enemy’s movement and delivering fire strikes on these groups,” Voloshyn said.
He added that Russian forces are actively attacking settlements along the logistics route from Pokrovske in Dnipropetrovsk region toward Hulyaipole. Fighting continues in Dobropillia, Pryluky and Varvarivka, he said.
The spokesperson also reported Russian airstrikes using guided aerial bombs on Hulyaipole and nearby settlements.
He emphasized that the highest number of engagements is on the Hulyaipole axis, though other sectors remain active. “The largest number of combat clashes is on this axis, but the Oleksandrivske direction is also quite active, with intense fighting,” Voloshyn noted.
He said Russia’s main objective is to capture Hulyaipole.
Earlier, Voloshyn said Russian forces are trying to break into the center of Hulyaipole in Zaporizhzhia region, while moving consolidation groups to the outskirts.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on the possible capture of a command post in Hulyaipole.
