Russia has handed over a third batch of Su-30SM2 fighter jets to Belarus, Belarus’s Defense Ministry said on its official Telegram channel.
The ministry did not disclose how many aircraft were delivered. Photos circulating online show at least two jets, apparently photographed at a Russian airfield, marked with the numbers “13” and “14.”
It’s the third Su-30SM2 delivery to Belarus in 2025. The first pair, numbered “09” and “10,” arrived at the 61st Fighter Air Base in Baranovichi in May, followed by aircraft “11” and “12” in August. The latest shipment continues a planned refresh of the Belarusian Air Force that began in May.
Belarus had previously received eight aircraft of the earlier Su-30SM variant, manufactured at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in Russia.
Minsk has also deployed Russia’s Oreshnik missile system on its territory, describing the move as a response to what it calls “Western aggression.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Russia is learning the contours of Ukraine’s air defenses, including interceptor drones, and is trying to circumvent them—at times via Belarusian territory.
