Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi says Ukrainians will soon be offered triple pay to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with many of the new contracts available to mobilized personnel.
“The Ministry of Defense together with the General Staff, other relevant agencies, the government, and under the personal oversight of the president have developed a contract system under which a service member who signs a contract with very flexible terms will receive decent monetary compensation,” Syrskyi said in an interview with Kanal 24.
According to the commander-in-chief, pay under the new contracts will be three times higher. At the same time, additional payments, bonuses and other monetary support will be preserved.
“We’ve been working toward this contract for a long time, and it’s nearly ready to roll out,” he noted.
On December 5, the Defense Ministry said the government had approved a ministry-drafted bill establishing a new contract system “with enhanced motivational factors.”
They will be available to:
- reservists subject to military duty;
- service members currently serving under mobilization.
The new contracts will have more flexible terms: the first contract will run for 1–5 years, and subsequent contracts for 1–10 years, but not beyond the maximum age for service. After discharge, service members on these contracts—except those on one-year deals—will receive a 12-month deferment from conscription.
“We expect the new contract system to start operating in the first quarter of 2026,” Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
Earlier, the Defense Ministry announced the start of testing a new service through the Reserve+ app, allowing Ukrainians to register for military service while avoiding bureaucracy.
Oleh Berestovyi, head of the Defense Ministry’s Main IT Directorate, said Ukraine is launching a new project, “Mobilized Check-in”, to track a conscript’s path at every stage.
