Fact Check: Viral Video Does NOT Show Caracas, Venezuela Under Missile Bombardment -- 2025 Israel Footage

Does a viral video show missiles raining down from the clouds on Caracas, Venezuela on January 3, 2026? No, that's not true: A viral video making the rounds does not show the actual attacks that took place on that date. It is an old video from 2025 that was described at the time as missiles from Iran impacting Tel Aviv.

An example of the viral video appeared in an X post (archived here) published on January 3, 2025 with a description that read:

De las mejores tomas de esta madrugada en Caracas. Que enfermito el de la bocina

Translated with Google Translate that reads:

Among the best shots from this morning in Caracas. How sick the one with the megaphone is.

This was the first frame of the video in the post:

The United States did strike Venezuela on January 3, 2026 as reported by AP News (archived here).

However the video in the viral post has been online since at least June 13, 2025 when it appeared on the Instagram account of the Deccan Chronicle (archived here):

At the time it first appeared it was described as:

#TelAviv | Video shows projectiles hitting central Tel Aviv during Iran's retaliatory strike.

More than a dozen people injured in Tel Aviv and a few in Jerusalem, where explosions were heard.
#Israel #Iran #Khamenei #Jerusalem #Tehran
