Ukrainian President Zelensky announced a sweeping reset of the government and the security sector, saying he will personally oversee “rotations of all leaders.” He added that a change in the post of Commander-in-Chief is not planned at this time.
The President made the remarks at a Saturday briefing while answering reporters’ questions, according to Novini.LIVE.
He said any potential rotations are aimed at strengthening overall governance and the country’s defense capability.
“I think everyone will remain in different positions, in different high-level positions, but, of course, there will be replacements and, of course, there will be rotations of everyone,” the president said.
Answering a follow-up about the post of Commander-in-Chief, Zelensky said that replacing the current chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, is not being prepared as of today.
During the briefing, the president also commented on statements by some military commanders asking that Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) chief Vasyl Maliuk not be dismissed.
“I respect everyone. I will make the rotations that I have already decided to make,” he said in response to a question from the media.
In addition, the President said reforms and rotations at the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) will begin this month.
Zelensky also said Saturday that Serhiy Kyslytsya, who served as first deputy foreign minister, is moving to the President’s Office, where he will become first deputy head of the office.
According to the president, Kyslytsya will bolster the office’s diplomatic track and continue participating in talks with the United States and European partners on peace initiatives.
Earlier, Kyrylo Budanov was appointed head of the President’s Office, and military intelligence was taken over by Oleh Ivashchenko, who previously led the Foreign Intelligence Service.
