Russian forces are using small-group tactics to infiltrate the village of Dronivka in the Siversk urban community of Bakhmut district, Donetsk region. They are also trying to bypass Ukrainian positions using the Siversk–Zakytne road, the 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade said on its Telegram channel on Monday, December 5.
“The enemy is also more active from the direction of Yampil - mostly futile attempts to ferry manpower across the Siverskyi Donets River in motorized rubber boats and hold ground on the riverbank.
“In addition, the enemy is trying to bring up artillery and set up pilot staging points near the northeastern outskirts of Dronivka and in the Serebrianske forestry,” the statement said.
Russia’s main objective, the brigade added, is to seize the riverbank along the Siverskyi Donets and the villages of Dronivka, Platonivka and Zakytne to concentrate resources, deploy artillery and UAV positions, and control logistics.
“Units of the 81st Brigade are managing to detect the enemy in time and deliver instant strikes against both enemy personnel and static targets. Such coordinated actions are stopping Russian advances toward Dronivka and other settlements within our area of responsibility,” the brigade said.
The military noted the overall situation in their sector remains tense. Earlier, Ukrainian forces said they are holding the defense of the city of Rodynske in Donetsk region.
