Ukraine strikes fuel train in Crimea and Russian unit in Donbas, General Staff says

Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a fuel train used by Russian occupation forces in Crimea, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The AFU said late on January 8 that it hit a key Russian logistics facility in occupied Crimea. Details were published on the military’s official Facebook account.

The strike targeted a fuel train at the loading rack of the Gvardeyskoye oil depot. The aim, the General Staff said, was to degrade logistics for Russia’s “Dnipro” grouping operating in southern Ukraine. The effects of the strike are being assessed.

Another target was a Russian repair unit in the settlement of Gorne in occupied Donbas, hit to weaken forces advancing on the Orikhiv axis.

“We continue measures to systematically reduce the military-economic potential and offensive capabilities of the Russian occupiers. More to come,” the General Staff said.

Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces released footage of the strikes and added details. They said the attack was carried out on the evening of January 8 using FP-2 strike drones. The Ukrainian Special Operations forces also said a unit of Russia’s 51st Army was hit in Gorne.
