Ukraine’s military struck an oil depot in Russia’s Volgograd region and a series of high-value targets in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine overnight into Saturday, reported the General Staff.
“As part of measures to reduce the offensive capabilities of the Russian aggressor… units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Zhutovskaya oil depot (Oktyabrsky district, Volgograd region, Russia), which is used to supply fuel to occupying forces. The target was hit. The extent of the damage is being clarified,” the statement reads.
In addition, on the temporarily occupied territory (TOT) of Zaporizhzhia region, a drone warehouse belonging to a unit of Russia’s 19th Motorized Rifle Division was hit. A strike also targeted a Russian UAV command post near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
Ukraine’s General Staff said several other targets were hit on the TOT of Donetsk region:
- a concentration of personnel from the 76th Air Assault Division (Kurakhivka);
- a command-and-observation post of a tank battalion from the same division (Hirnyk);
- a command post of a unit from the 41st Army (Hirnyk).
“In all cases, strike UAVs were recorded hitting their targets. Enemy losses are being clarified,” the General Staff added.
Earlier Saturday, reports said drones attacked an oil depot in Russia’s Volgograd region, sparking a fire - accounts that appeared both on social media from residents and from the region’s governor, Andrei Bocharov.
Overnight on January 6, Ukraine’s forces struck a GRAU arsenal in Russia’s Kostroma region, the Herkon Plus oil depot in the Lipetsk region, and several other key targets, officials said.
Russia later reported how many drones attacked during the night.
