Ukraine’s military struck a drone manufacturing facility in Russia’s Rostov region and several targets in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine overnight into Tuesday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on January 13.
According to the statement, Ukrainian-made missiles hit the Atlant Aero plant in Taganrog, which designs, manufactures and tests “Molniya” strike-reconnaissance UAVs and produces components for the “Oryol” drone.
The military said the strike would reduce Russia’s drone production capacity and hinder its ability to target civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Explosions and a fire were reported in production buildings, it added, with the extent of damage still being assessed.
Ukraine also reported strikes on multiple targets in Russian-occupied territories:
- In occupied Zaporizhzhia region: a Tor air-defense system near Chereshnevoe; a Tunguska air-defense system near Podsporye; a P-18-2 Prima radar near Lozovatka; and concentrations of Russian personnel near Lyubimovka.
- In occupied Donetsk region: an ammunition depot and concentrations of personnel near Makiivka, as well as a Tor air-defense system in Solnechnoye.
The strike was corroborated by Ukrainian monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+, as well as Russian outlet Astra, which cited local eyewitnesses.
Astra also reported that the Beriev TANTK aircraft repair enterprise was hit.
Rostov region Governor Yuri Slyusar said the aerial attack damaged an industrial facility, residential buildings, gas supply lines and passenger cars in Taganrog.
On January 11, Ukraine’s defense forces said they hit three Lukoil drilling platforms in the Caspian Sea. They also reported strikes on a Buk-M3 launcher in Luhansk region and a depot of Russia’s 49th Army in Kherson region.
Last week, Ukrainian forces said they struck the Oskolneftesnab oil depot in Russia’s Belgorod region and a military logistics warehouse in Russian-occupied Donetsk region.
