Ukraine repels Russian border breach attempt in Kharkiv region, killing 21 soldiers

Ukraine says it blocked an attempted breach of the state border. In the defensive fight, 21 Russian soldiers were killed and 11 more were wounded.

Ukraine’s defense forces repelled an attack by Russian troops near the village of Degtyarne in the Kharkiv region, killing more than 20 soldiers and wounding 11 others, State Border Guard Service representative Andriy Demchenko said on a national telethon.

The attack took place in the direction of the settlement of Degtyarne.

"Previously, the enemy appeared in small groups near the border, likely probing the situation. But at the start of this week, for several days, having amassed certain forces, they tried to attack the positions of border units with small infantry groups, but in larger numbers," Demchenko said.

He confirmed that, while repelling the assault, Ukrainian defenders killed 21 Russian troops and wounded 11 more.

Earlier, border guards from the Hart Brigade foiled an attempt by Russian forces to break through the state border in the Kharkiv region toward the village of Degtyarne.

Elsewhere, south of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, drone operators from the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Anna of Kyiv with Ukraine’s Ground Forces struck a column of Russian troops.
