On the South Slobozhansky axis, Russian forces tried to leverage their numerical advantage to break through defenses in Vovchansk and push toward Hrafske, Vovchanski Khutory and Zybynne, the Joint Forces grouping reported on January 18.
Russian forces also attacked positions toward Dehtiarne and Kruhle, the statement said.
Overall, 21 combat engagements took place in the Joint Forces’ area of responsibility over the past day, according to the grouping.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces denied reports that Russian troops seized Minkivka in Donetsk region.
Separately, the General Staff said there were 133 combat clashes along the front over the past day, with the heaviest activity on the Pokrovsk axis and heightened activity near Hulyaipole and Kostiantynivka.
