Multiple regions across Russia reported drone attacks. On Wednesday, January 21, an apartment building in the settlement of Novaya Adygeya, near Krasnodar, was hit. Thirteen people were injured, with seven adults and two children hospitalized, Adygea leader Murat Kumpilov said on Telegram. Two people are in intensive care.
Fifteen cars caught fire in a parking lot. Residents of the building were evacuated to a temporary accommodation center. “The municipal administration is introducing a district-level state of emergency. This will help coordinate the work of all services and agencies more effectively,” Kumpilov added. Local Telegram channels reported a powerful explosion.
Krasnodar Krai’s operational headquarters reported a fire at the Afipsky oil refinery. Authorities said it was caused by debris from downed drones. “There are no casualties or infrastructure damage. The fire caused by falling fragments was promptly extinguished,” the statement said. The Afipsky refinery has been targeted by drones multiple times, including on August 7, August 28, September 26, November 29 and December 14, 2025 .
Flights were delayed at airports in Krasnodar and Sochi. There were also reports of damaged homes in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, in Krasnodar Krai. From this Azov Sea coastal city, the Russian Armed Forces - waging a full-scale war against Ukraine for nearly four years — regularly launch attacks on the neighboring country.
Overnight, drones also targeted energy infrastructure in the Belgorod and Oryol regions, disrupting power supply in parts of Oryol.
“As a result of the shelling, enterprises within the region’s energy complex were damaged. We are conducting demining and starting emergency repairs. In Belgorod, facilities and equipment at one enterprise were also damaged,” Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said 75 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles targeted Russian regions overnight. The ministry claimed air defenses destroyed 45 over Krasnodar Krai, nine over the Oryol region, and seven over the Black Sea. Drones were also shot down over the Rostov, Astrakhan, Bryansk, Kursk and Voronezh regions, as well as over annexed Crimea and the Azov Sea, it added.
