Residents of Slavyansk-na-Kubani in Russia’s Krasnodar region reported a series of powerful blasts overnight on January 26, following an air-raid alert over a drone threat.
The Slavyansky Oil Refinery may have been targeted, according to monitoring channels. “Slavyansk-na-Kubani: the attack on the local oil refinery continues. Krasnodar region,” one post said.
Russian media reported the explosions after 1 a.m. local time. Witnesses counted roughly five to seven loud blasts, described bright flashes in the sky, and said Russian air defenses were active. Local channels also relayed reports that “enemy drones” were approaching from the direction of the Azov Sea, accompanied by a loud buzz and gunfire.
Ahead of the incident, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) introduced the “Carpet” plan at Krasnodar Airport, a protocol that restricts takeoffs and landings.
Local authorities confirmed a drone attack on Slavyansk-na-Kubani and said at least three residential buildings were damaged, with windows blown out and roof damage reported. No casualties were reported. There was no official confirmation that the refinery itself was hit at the time of publication.
The incident follows other recent strikes inside Russia. On the night of January 25, the city of Belgorod came under what authorities called the most massive attack since the start of the war, with locals reporting about 50 explosions.
On the night of January 23, drones targeted the Russian city of Penza, igniting an oil depot, with reports of a strike on a local combined heat and power plant.
