Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has appointed Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov as his adviser on defense technology.
Beskrestnov, one of Ukraine’s most prominent military bloggers and a radio technology specialist, has joined the new minister’s team as an adviser on technological solutions.
Fedorov announced the decision on January 25 on his official Facebook account.
The minister emphasized that in today’s war it is critical not only to track innovation, but also to anticipate the Russian actions and build solutions capable of changing the situation on the battlefield. That, he said, is why he brought the well-known professional and enthusiast “Flash” onto his team.
“We are strengthening electronic warfare and communications at the front — ‘Flash’ has joined the team of advisers. In modern technological warfare, it is important to understand the directions of innovation, anticipate the Russians’ plans, and create products that can turn the tide on the battlefield,” he said.
According to Fedorov, Beskrestnov is among the strongest hands-on specialists in drones, EW systems, and analyzing Russian solutions. He noted that since the start of the full-scale invasion, the expert has consistently worked on the front line and conducted training for troops in the hottest spots.
The minister said his adviser’s current focus is on building systemic solutions against Russia’s strike and reconnaissance drones. The key task, he added, is to reduce the effectiveness of Russian attacks and increase protection for Ukrainian forces.
“Developing EW is critically important: in war, the side that adapts faster wins,” he said.
Fedorov added that Beskrestnov will also be involved in other defense technology areas, including work with captured Russian equipment, analyzing it, and studying logistics and engineering to turn lessons learned into practical advantages for Ukraine. He will also take part in expert evaluations of new military developments, prioritizing not concepts on paper but solutions already proven in combat.
“Today’s war is about math, technology, and the speed of decision-making. We must not just react, but build a system that constantly learns and gets stronger,” he said.
Earlier, it was reported that one of Ukraine’s most well-known volunteers, Serhiy Sternenko, who for the past four years has supplied drones to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, has also joined the Defense Ministry’s team. Fedorov appointed him as his adviser on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles at the front.
Immediately after taking office, Fedorov began a sweeping overhaul of the ministry’s team. In recent days, five advisers to the previous minister were dismissed. The new chief is assembling a team of specialists and enthusiasts focused on accelerating the modernization of the Ukrainian Forces and deploying technological solutions that can give Ukraine an edge on the battlefield.
