Germany’s ambassador to Ukraine, Heiko Thoms, has announced that Berlin will hand over 33 mobile combined heat-and-power plants to Ukraine in the near future. He made the comments in an interview with Suspilne.
“What is happening here every night is a war crime. It is done solely to terrorize the civilian population. You need support now, and you will get it. I believe we are already the largest partner in the energy sector. We provide not only generators or energy storage systems, and at times even vehicles for energy repair work. Now we are also delivering 33 mobile power plants — combined heat-and-power units,” the ambassador said.
According to Thoms, one such mobile plant can provide heat and electricity to tens of thousands of people.
“So, these 33 units can supply electricity to millions of people in Ukraine. The challenge is connecting them — just as with generators — but we will work together to do this as quickly as possible,” Thoms said.
Recently, the government summed up the results of the “energy Ramstein.” Partners confirmed their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine with new humanitarian aid packages totaling more than $500 million.
