A date and location for a second round of talks have not yet been set, reports Ukrainian political journalist Yulia Zabelina on Telegram.
Zabelina said that on January 29, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed new details off the record.
“The date and time of the next meeting of the negotiating teams may change because of the situation in Iran. As far as I know, there is no final time and place yet. But it’s no longer Abu Dhabi,” Zabelina wrote.
For now, the United States has moved a significant military presence near Iran’s borders. Analysts say an attack could begin in the coming days. The venue for the talks was likely changed for security reasons.
The first Ukraine–U.S.–Russia talks in the UAE capital took place on January 23 and 24. Washington called them positive, citing major progress and movement toward peace. Kyiv and Moscow were more restrained. According to the U.S. side, the only unresolved issue remained territorial, with Moscow demanding all of Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
The second meeting was initially planned for February 1. But on January 29, U.S. special representative Steve Witkoff said the talks would take place “in a week.”
