There were no strikes on energy facilities overnight, but there were more attacks on logistics. Drone strikes on urban residential areas also continue.
During the energy truce, Russian occupying forces have reoriented their strikes toward Ukrainian logistics, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday, January 30, on Telegram following a conference call.
“There were no strikes on energy facilities overnight, but even yesterday afternoon there were hits specifically on energy infrastructure in several regions. We are currently recording a reorientation of the Russian army toward strikes on logistics. Drone strikes on typical urban housing also continue,” he wrote.
According to Zelensky, a ballistic missile strike in the Kharkiv region damaged warehouses used for civilian production belonging to a US company.
“In Zaporizhzhia, Shahed drones hit one of the city’s districts. FPV drone strikes continue almost around the clock on Kherson, on cities in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and most of all on Nikopol. The situation is difficult along the border in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions,” the head of state noted.
He said the situation in the Cherkasy region was reviewed separately. In particular, Zelensky said, “much more needs to be done to guarantee people’s basic needs, especially for homes with electric heating.”
Additional resources are being deployed for Kyiv: as of the morning, 378 multi-story residential buildings were without heating.
“Reports also covered the situation in the Kyiv region, Poltava region, Kirovohrad region, Odesa region, Mykolaiv region, Vinnytsia region, Chernivtsi region, Khmelnytskyi region and Zhytomyr region,” the president said.
He tasked Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Anatolii Kryvonozhko, with strengthening counter-drone defenses along the line between Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
“Last year, the Staff made corresponding decisions that have so far been implemented only partially. I instructed that an appropriate inspection be carried out and response measures be presented,” the head of state concluded.
As a reminder, on the evening of January 29, US President Donald Trump unexpectedly said he had allegedly reached an agreement with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin for a week-long pause in shelling Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities due to severe frost. The Kremlin has pledged not to conduct strikes until February 1.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the energy truce with Russia. And today he issued a new statement regarding the truce.
