At least four Russian bombs accidentally dropped in the Belgorod region in the past month

At least four Russian aerial bombs have been accidentally dropped in the Belgorod region in the past month, according to independent outlet Astra.

The latest incident occurred on January 19 in the village of Pervoye Tseplyaevo in Shebekinsky District, where a bomb landed near a residential building. Authorities evacuated nearly 50 residents from neighboring houses, and no injuries were reported. That same day, a Russian FAB-500 was discovered in the village of Sukharevo in Valuysky District, also near a residential building.

On January 21, a 20-meter-deep crater from a munition was found on Gubkina Street in Belgorod. To extract the bomb, officials closed roads and evacuated nearby residents. Nearly a day later, crews removed a Russian FAB-500 from the ground and transported it to a range near the village of Butovo for disposal.

The first incident of 2026 was recorded on January 5 in Shebekinsky District, near the village of Batratskaya Dacha. No casualties were reported.

On the evening of December 6, a presumed Russian aerial bomb fell near an electrical substation on Storozhevaya Street in Belgorod, triggering an explosion and power disruptions, The Insider reported. Officials did not comment on the specifics, saying only that an “unidentified munition” had struck the city. In total, Astra estimates at least 143 Russian aerial bombs fell on the region in 2025.
