Russian assault on Pokrovsk falters as Ukraine says it destroyed four platoons

Russian forces attempted an advance on Ukrainian positions in the Pokrovsk sector, but Ukrainian units repelled the assault, according to Ukraine’s National Guard.

Ukrainian defenders eliminated roughly four platoons of Russian troops in a single day, the information unit of the National Guard’s Spartan Brigade said.

“The enemy attempted an offensive in the Pokrovsk direction. Russia’s occupation command pushed forward about 90 assault troops. Under cover of fog, the enemy tried to move in by cars, motorcycles and quad bikes,” the statement said.

The brigade noted that Spartan, together with “Madyar’s Birds” and adjacent units, halted the advance.

Over the past 24 hours, Russia took significant losses, specifically:

- 80 assault troops killed and two wounded;

- two Russian infantrymen captured;

- 10 quad bikes destroyed;

- four motorcycles;

- six vehicles.

Ukrainian troops also released video evidence showing the destruction of enemy equipment and personnel during the assault.

On January 20, DeepState analysts reported that Russian forces continued to push forward in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region.
