Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Poland has significantly increased its diplomatic and security cooperation with the Baltic and Nordic countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, and Sweden. Warsaw has deepened military ties, hosted joint troops, and enhanced defense readiness to counter Russian threats and ensure regional security. Poland also expanded cooperation on energy infrastructure and transit projects to reduce dependency on Russia and improve resilience. Polish authorities have actively supported the Baltic States and Nordic countries in efforts to deter Russian aggression, including through NATO mechanisms and military exercises. The engagement is framed also in terms of wider regional stability and economic cooperation. Polish officials are increasingly involved in Baltic and Nordic forums, seeking to build a more integrated security architecture in Northern Europe. The article includes commentary on Poland’s growing role as a regional security leader, challenges in energy independence, and the comprehensive approach to countering Russian hybrid threats in the region.
