Several dozen Russian troops remain surrounded and effectively isolated in Kupyansk, with constrained capabilities, Viktor Tregubov, head of communications for Ukraine’s Joint Forces, said, according to Ukrinform.
“Right now, only those directly in that block remain, and there are just several dozen of them. The only thing they can do is try to survive,” Tregubov said.
Resupply is being attempted by air, he added, but the enemy’s ability to act is limited. Russian forces cannot mount offensive operations “because there are simply few of them there, and half are wounded,” he said.
Tregubov noted that Ukrainian troops are avoiding close combat and relying on longer-range weapons, including drones.
He concluded that the Russian grouping there is effectively isolated.
Earlier, a Ukrainian battalion commander, Roman Kovalev, recorded a video message from the center of Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi, which Russian forces had allegedly “captured.”
