The Redkinsky Experimental Plant in Russia’s Tver region - among other things a producer of fuel for Russian missiles, reports Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in the Ukrainian Security Service.
Vitaly Korolev, the acting governor of Tver region, said on Telegram that during the “repulsion of a UAV attack,” a fire broke out at one of the plants in the Konakovo district. There were no reports of casualties, Korolev added.
Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Andriy Kovalenko also confirmed the strike and said the plant specializes in experimental and small-batch production of special chemical components used in military programs. “The products are used for propellant components, explosives, initiators and process mixtures used by defense enterprises. The plant meets the Russian Defense Ministry’s nonstandard needs for new weapons,” his post said.
Ukraine’s UNIAN agency reported this includes fuel for the strategic Kh-101, Kh-555 and “Kalibr” cruise missiles.
The Telegram channel Astra said residents of Redkino in Tver region reported numerous explosions and a subsequent fire, with several seats of ignition. Witnesses said a chemical smell was noticeable near the plant.
The plant is under sanctions by the United Kingdom, the United States and several other countries.
According to Astra, the facility was previously attacked in June 2024 and twice in September 2023.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said that from 11 p.m. Moscow time on February 6 to 7 a.m. on February 7, air defenses intercepted and destroyed 82 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones, including four over Tver region.
