Ukraine to start exporting drones in 2026 with 10 European hubs and German production, Zelensky says

Ukraine will begin exporting domestically developed defense technologies in February 2026, including launching drone production in Germany that month, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a talk with faculty and students at the Kyiv Aviation Institute marking the 120th anniversary of aircraft designer Oleh Antonov’s birth.

Zelensky said 10 export centers will operate across Europe in 2026, expected in the Baltic states and in Northern Europe. “Ten representative offices will operate in 2026. In mid-February we will see production of our drones in Germany. I will accept the first drone. This is a line that is working. Production lines are operating in Britain. These are all our Ukrainian technologies,” he said.

He added that Europe’s security depends on technology and drones, and that “everything will be based on Ukrainian technologies and Ukrainian specialists.” Ukraine remains at war, he said, and “not all companies yet feel such a space of freedom that they can enter all other markets.”

Serhii Sternenko, an adviser to the defense minister, called the move important and correct for Ukraine, saying it will bring more funds into the economy, lower the cost of UAV production and supply more systems to the Defense Forces. “Not to mention that we will be able to capture a significant share of the global market. Our enemy is exporting weapons even now. In 2025, the Russians earned about $15 billion on this and invested it in new weapons. It was a big mistake to keep the export ban all this time. Ukraine is taking the right step. Our warriors and our country will only benefit,” he said.

According to earlier reports, Ukraine could soon field its own FP-7 ballistic missiles, described as analogous to ATACMS, while an FP-9 variant would have a longer range, potentially reaching Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Poland is also prepared to transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine, with Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk saying they are considering an exchange of aircraft for drones.
