Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Bureau to seek extradition of Timur Mindich from Israel in ‘Midas’ case

National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Director Semen Kryvonos says an extradition request is being prepared to bring corruption suspect Timur Mindich back to Ukraine. Local media report the businessman traveled to Israel before searches began.

Kryvonos announced the move during a February 10 briefing streamed by Novyny.Live.

“Once all steps enabling an extradition request are completed, we will send it and work with Israel and other countries to extradite the suspects in this criminal case,” Kryvonos said.

He added that NABU expects new developments in the Energoatom corruption probe, which will be communicated to the public when possible.

“We’re communicating cautiously at this stage due to certain aspects of evidence collection: conducting interviews and examinations, receiving responses from international jurisdictions, and engaging with international partners. This is not the end of the case—the investigation continues, and there will be additional details that we will share when it becomes procedurally possible,” he said.

On December 17, 2025, NABU explained that extraditing Mindich could be complicated because he and another suspect in the “Midas” case, Oleksandr Tsukerman, hold Israeli citizenship.

On November 10, 2025, NABU announced a sweeping operation dubbed “Midas” investigating corruption in the energy sector.

That same day, lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak of the Holos party said that one of the figures on NABU tapes, nicknamed “Karlson,” is Ukrainian businessman Timur Mindich.

Earlier, Ukrainska Pravda journalists reported, citing sources, that NABU detectives searched Mindich’s premises and that the businessman left the country a few hours before the raids.

At a December 10 court hearing, fraud and murder-for-hire suspect Ihor Kolomoisky claimed there was an attempt to kill Mindich in Israel.

On December 22, Ukrainska Pravda journalist Mykhailo Tkach described how Mindich is living in Israel, saying the businessman is trying to keep a low profile.
