Russia attempts pincer move to encircle Pokrovsk, Ukraine says

Russian forces are intensifying pressure from the Kotlyne and Rodynske areas of Donetsk region and attempting a pincer movement to encircle the Pokrovsk agglomeration, according to the 7th Rapid Response Corps of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces (DShV), which also posted video of the operations on Telegram.

“Units in the area of responsibility of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the DShV, together with other elements of the Defense Forces, are countering these intentions by stepping up aerial reconnaissance and additionally mining likely enemy routes of advance,” the statement said.

Ukraine says Russian troops continue probing with small assault groups from the northwestern part of Pokrovsk toward Hryshyne, where they are being detected and destroyed.

“Recently, north of Pokrovsk, an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group was recorded infiltrating near farm facilities. As a result of countermeasures, Ukrainian service members detected and eliminated the enemy,” the DShV added.

Over the past week, Ukraine’s Defense Forces say they killed or wounded 255 Russian soldiers and destroyed or damaged 19 vehicles, 29 UAV launch sites, 36 shelters and depots, and 575 attack drones.

Ukraine’s Forces have reduced the gray zone near Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region, pushing back Russian troops and preventing them from consolidating after assault operations.

Military observer Bohdan Myroshnykov has noted that the situation on the Pokrovsk axis remains tense, especially around Hryshyne and Rodynske, and that supply constraints are making it increasingly difficult for Ukrainian units to hold their positions.

Analysts at DeepState have also said the last battles for Pokrovsk are ongoing, with about 95% of the city under Russian control. At the same time, Ukrainian forces still hold isolated positions in the “gray zone,” so full occupation has not yet occurred.
